The BHP Billiton Nickel West Supervisor Development Program, developed by Astute Learning, has entered its seventh successful year. The program has provided training for more than 700 Superintendents and Supervisors, who lead a culture of safety within the organisation.
The Supervisor Development Program was introduced in 2006 with a series of bespoke workshops encompassing change and field leadership programs, and delivered across five sites including an underground mine, open cut mine, smelter, refinery and corporate head office.
Astute Learning Principal Tim Cameron said the Supervisor Development Program was developed to provide more clarity and focus in operation leadership for BHP Billiton Nickel West Supervisors and Superintendents.
“BHP Billiton Nickel West’s commitment to the health and safety of its people is demonstrated through the organisations investment in the development of its leaders.
“The company provides support through its workplace training programs to ensure its operational leaders are fully conversant in the most progressive work practices, with an additional focus on putting this expertise into practice in the workplace,” said Mr Cameron.
The BHP Billiton Nickel West Supervisor Development Program has received consistently strong feedback from participants both for its ability to connect theory to resource sector practice and the deep operational experience brought by the Astute Learning facilitators.
